Meet the coach and travel to Belfast for the early morning ferry crossing to Cairnryan arriving at our central hotel mid afternoon to check in. Then enjoy some time at leisure discovering the delights of the Victorian spa town of Harrogate with itis Georgian buildings, delicious tea rooms and historic Turkish Baths – enjoy the lively mixture of fabulous shopping and cafe culture. That evening dinner will be served in your hotel.
See medieval York come alive at the Christmas markets of St Nicholas Fayre, revel in the atmosphere amidst costumed stall owners and carol singers and choose ideal Yuletide gifts as the delicious aromas of spicy gingerbread, roasted chestnuts and hot chocolate laced with brandy waft through the air. Wander through Yorkis quaint charming cobbled streets and huddled houses which have hardly changed since the 14th century and browse the medieval shopping streets of Stonegate and its famous Shambles before returning to your hotel later in the evening.
This morning weill be transported back to the time of Dickens in the picturesque village of Grassington at the Dickensian Festival – soak up the festive atmosphere of the cobbled streets and enjoy a mulled wine or two watching the Victorian street entertainers, bands and buskers. In the afternoon comes the highlight of the tour, a visit to see the Christmas Decorations in the magnificent stately home of Castle Howard, stunning at any time of year, but particularly in the lead up to Christmas when the lights and decorations transfer the dull winter day into something magical and the house is festooned with thousands of baubles, candles, wreaths and garlands. That evening dinner will be served in your hotel.
We sadly say goodbye to Harrogate and travel onwards to Cairnryan to join the evening ferry crossing to Belfast.
