Located on the banks of the River Danube, this wonderful imperial city is alive with the music of Mozart and simply oozes Christmas cheer and charm. Brimming with culture, history and art, there is so much to experience in this wonderful city, you are spoilt for choice.

Explore the narrow medieval lanes and cobbled squares around St. Stephen’s Cathedral; take a carriage ride or simply follow the aroma of coffee to one of the many cafés that have made Vienna so famous. Remember to leave room for a slice of Sacher Torte, probably the most delicious cake in the world, topped with whipped cream! In the evening, why not sample the local wine in the traditional and cosy ‘Heurigen’ wine-taverns.

Vienna is home to Austria’s best known and largest Christmas market. Its majestic architecture create beautiful settings for many of the Christmas markets, with several around the Ringstrasse, the elegant boulevard linking the Hofburg Palace, the State Opera House and many other attractions. The city’s Rathausplatz, Maria-Theresien Platz, Karlsplatz and Spittelberg are home to over 200 market stalls offering original gifts. Revel in the mouth-watering aromas of roasted chestnuts and warmed fruit punch at the Viennese Christmas Markets, the most popular seasonal event in the area.
