Vienna is the only capital city in the world that produces it’s own wine, the former wine growing villages of Grinzing and Neustift have succeeded in preserving much of the original character of the ‘Heuriger’ ~ picturesque wine taverns, popular with both Viennese locals and visitors alike.
A typical meal would include a starter plate of breads, spreads and salads, followed by food from the buffet ~ again salads, different cuts of warm and cold meat, baked vegetables, sauerkraut, etc – and apple and sweet curd strudel. Throughout the evening strolling musicians will entertain the guests with popular Viennese and international melodies. All of this is, of course, accompanied by plenty of the new ‘Heuriger’ wine!
