Accommodation

Woodford Dolmen Hotel, Carlow

The 3* Woodford Dolmen Hotel Carlow is located  just outside Carlow, on the banks of the River Barrow and surrounded by picturesque green grounds.

Guests can enjoy a walk around the landscaped gardens, with a bridge that joins the hotel to its own private island with stunning views of the River Barrow and the Killeshin Hills.

The Carlow shops and restaurants are easily accessible from the hotel and Carlow Castle is only a short 15-minute walk.

Itinerary

DAY 1

Meet your coach at your selected pick-up point.  Sit back and relax as you travel South East, stopping at the Kildare Outlet Village before continuing the journey to Carlow arriving late afternoon at the Woodford Dolmen hotel for check-in, with time to freshen up before dinner.

 

DAY 2

This morning we depart after breakfast, join your coach as we travel to New Ross, a town steeped in history, where we will visit the Dunbrody Famine Ship Experience.  The afternoon is spent in Wexford, a bustling harbour town which rewards visitors with glimpses into its glorious Norman and Viking heritage including its old town walls and gates and the ruins of Selskar Abbey.  Take time to explore its picturesque harbour and narrow winding streets. Late afternoon re-join your coach and travel back to your hotel in Carlow.

 

DAY 3

After breakfast. join your coach and travel to visit Kilkenny, Ireland’s Medieval capital.  The city’s compact nature means that all the points of interest are easily accessible by foot and you will have plenty of time to visit the attractions including, Medieval Mile Museum, Rothe House Smithwick’s Experience, St Canice’s Cathedral, Kilkenny Castle and the Round Tower.  Mid-afternoon re-join your we will make a stop at the Nicholas Mosse Pottery Mill before returning to the hotel.

 

DAY 4

Today after breakfast join your coach as we travel to spend the day in the oldest city in Ireland Waterford.  It’s a vibrant and picturesque city that has managed to carefully maintain its important heritage, while also having a lively and modern shopping area, filled with cafes, award winning restaurants and an excellent mix of traditional, local and contemporary pubs.  Enjoy the day at leisure to explore the city’s culture and heritage.  Late afternoon re-join your coach and travel back to your hotel in Carlow.

 

DAY 5

This morning after breakfast and checking out, join your coach for the journey home, travelling via Dublin with some free time before re-joining your coach returning to your original joining point early evening.
