Join us as we explore the charm of Southwest England on this trip through Devon and Cornwall. Shaped and influenced by the sea with charming villages, pretty harbours and rolling countryside makes Cornwall an exceptional destination. Staying at the Mercure Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel, located opposite Exeter Central train station. Within walking distance to the Cathedral and located near the High Street. Our tour includes a visit to Port Isaac – made famous as the setting for ITVs “Doc Martin”, charming Padstow surrounded by glorious beaches and Plymouth. Enjoy a memorable ride on the Dartmouth Steam Railway. The elegant, Victorian, 4-star Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel is in the heart of Exeter, opposite Exeter Central Rail Station, 5 miles from the M5 motorway. The classic bedrooms each have a private modern bathroom and tea/coffee facilities. All rooms have a work desk and Wi-Fi access, and a TV with satellite channels. Drakes Restaurant is on the ground floor of Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel and offers traditional British food. Drakes Bar provides an informal dining experience, whilst Nelson’s Lounge offers light snacks throughout the day, together with delicious afternoon teas. With its friendly service and fine surroundings, Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel is a good base for your stay in Exeter. City centre shops are within easy walking distance.

DAY 1

On arrival at Belfast International Airport, please make your way to the easyJet bag drop area (boarding passes are attached) Proceed through security to your departure gate to meet your Tour Manager – please make contact with your Tour Manager before boarding. Once onboard, sit back and relax for the flight to Bristol. On arrival, meet your tour manager in the arrivals area at Bristol Airport. Join your coach to travel to to your hotel in Exeter. Check – in and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure exploring Exeter City, shopping or visit the Cathedral and various landmarks in this historic university city. During the day you will join a 90-minute walking tour of the city and learn about the city (times and place will be confirmed by your tour manager).

DAY 2

After breakfast (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager), join your coach as we travel through the scenic Devon countryside to the market town of Totnes and spend the morning with free time exploring this busy and vibrant Devon town. After lunch proceed to the seaside town of Paignton and take the scenic vintage steam train along the beautiful river Dart to Kingsmear and cross over the river on the ferry which is included in the fare to Dartmouth. Enjoy some time in Dartmouth, its vibrant and a gem of a place to visit before re-joining your coach to return to your hotel in Exeter. Enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure in Exeter.

DAY 3

Today after breakfast (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager), travel to visit the city of Plymouth England’s Ocean City. Visit the old Barbican area the Mayflower steps and Pilgrim museums. Take the very popular 1-hour Plymouth Harbour cruise which goes up the Tamar River through the Naval Port, HMS Devonport, the largest Naval port in Western Europe. The enjoy some free time for lunch before we depart Plymouth and proceed through Dartmoor National Park to the County town of Tavistock. Birthplace of Sir Francis Drake and Sir Walter Raleigh. This historic town nestled in beautiful rural country has quirky shops with a pannier market and various places to explore. Depart Tavistock and return to your hotel in Exeter to enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 4

This morning (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager), we depart and travel to the Cornish town of Port Issac to enjoy some free time to explore the area where the Doc Martin series was filmed and visit the various locations featured in the programme. The TV series Poldark was also filmed in this area as well and you will pass through it as well in this very scenic part of Cornwall. Afterwards travel to visit the popular Cornish fishing port town of Padstow. Home the celebrated chef Rick Stein restaurant and its beautiful harbour and shops with spectacular walks over the cliffs or enjoy short ferry ride(payable locally) to the opposite hamlet of rock (tide permitting). Afterwards we make the journey back to our hotel in Exeter.

DAY 5

After a leisurely breakfast and checking out of the hotel, join your coach as we make out way to Bristol to enjoy some free time to explore the city, the City of Bristol has a fascinating past, and offers many historical and heritage sites, such as Bristol Cathedral and the Lord Mayor’s Chapel, are not to be missed. Afterwards re-join your coach and continue the journey to Bristol Airport for your return evening flight home to Belfast International Airport.
