Visit medieval Alnwick Castle – home of the current Duke of Northumberland – and journey along the coast to Bamburgh and a visit to the holy island of Lindisfarne. Itinerary

Day 1

Meet your coach at your selected pick-up point and travel to Belfast to join the early morning ferry crossing to Cairnryan. On arrival in Scotland, we continue our journey towards Newcastle with a stop at the Gretna Green Outlet Village for some free time before arriving at your hotel late afternoon.

Day 2

This morning after breakfast, we depart to visit Hexham, was voted best market town in UK with its striking Cathedral. Afterwards we cross Hadrian’s Wall, spend the afternoon at 700-year-old Alnwick Castle. See the lavish state rooms, drawing room, dining room and the 400-year-old library with 16,000 books. Later you will meet your coach for the journey back to your hotel.

Day 3

After breakfast, depart to travel the short distance into Newcastle. Meet your guide for a guided coach tour of the city, see its many sights and the city’s famous landmarks. Afterwards enjoy some free time to explore the city at your leisure. Later you will meet your coach for the journey back to your hotel.

Day 4

This morning after breakfast, we depart for a coastal tour. The kingdom of Northumbria is a country that lies within its own borders – a unique and beautiful place with its cuisine, tradition and lilting tongue. The 30-mile coastal trail takes in the popular fishing village of Seahouses. Here fish stalls sell the best fresh seafood. Then Bamburgh, dominated by its mighty castle perched on a rocky crag. Along the coastline with mile upon mile of golden beaches we reach tidal Holy Island of Lindisfarne – the cradle of Christianity. Cross the 2-mile causeway (tides permitting) and explore this incredible island. See the Priory, the distinctive castle, sample Lindisfarne Mead or enjoy a drink in one of the village pubs before travelling back to your hotel.

Day 5

This morning after breakfast and checking out, we make our way to the port of Cairnryan, with a comfort stop en-route, to join the afternoon ferry crossing to Belfast. On arrival, you return to your original joining point.
