We will see Brontë Country and Haworth, a little village with a cobblestone street lined with antique shops, while staying at Bradford’s charming Cedar Court Hotel, which offers great service. In addition, we will take a journey on the renowned Wensleydale Railway and the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, where viewers of the iconic “Railway Children” movie will undoubtedly remember the surrounding landscape. Itinerary

DAY 1

Meet your coach at your selected pick-up point and travel to Belfast to join the early morning ferry crossing to Cairnryan. On arrival in Scotland, we continue our journey towards Penrith with a stop at the Caledonia Park Outlet Village for some free time before re-joining your coach to continue the journey to your hotel in Bradford, arriving late afternoon. Check-in, relax, and freshen up before dinner.

DAY 2

This morning after breakfast, an early start as we drive to the pleasant North Yorkshire market town of Settle. We enjoy a journey on the Settle and Carlisle Railway—considered to be one of England’s most scenic rail journeys. We join the diesel train for the journey, passing through spectacular scenery, crossing the famous Ribblehead Viaduct, and stopping at Dent, the highest mainline station in England. We rejoin the coach for the short journey into Hawes, the main town of Wensleydale. After a break and chance to obtain lunch, we continue along the dale, past Aysgarth, to join the Wensleydale Railway. This unique and exciting project aims to restore train services along the whole of Wensleydale, reinstating one of the east-west rail links of the past. Enjoy a journey of about 40 minutes before we re-join the coach and return to the hotel in Bradford for dinner.

DAY 3

After breakfast (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager), join your coach and travel along the Aire Valley to the market town of Skipton. – ‘Gateway to the Dales’. The main street houses the well-known market, and Skipton Castle stands proudly at the top of the street. Take a stroll around the town and explore some of the interesting little alleyways and shops. From Skipton, we mark our way to Haworth, home of the famous Bronte Sisters and their notorious brother. Little has changed in the village since they lived at the parsonage. Later we enjoy a steam train ride along the delightful Worth Valley, following the locations used in the film. ‘The Railway children’. Afterwards, we return to the hotel in time to freshen up and relax before dinner.

DAY 4

Depart after breakfast (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager). Our journey today begins with a visit to Bolton Abbey. The Abbey and ruined priory are set in a beautiful and tranquil location alongside the river Wharfe, surrounded by moorland, woodland, and riverside—a truly inspirational setting for many. We have time for a stroll through this beautiful landscape, part of the Duke of Devonshire’s estate. Continuing through beautiful Dale’s scenery, we visit the Dales village of Grassington, one of Yorkshire’s prettiest villages, the main town and a lively centre with shops, cafes, and a regular farmers market, as well as now being the location of the fictional market town Darrowby in Channel 5’s All Creatures Great and Small. Afterwards, re-join your coach and return to your hotel in Bradford for dinner.

DAY 5

This morning, after breakfast and checking out (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager), depart the hotel for our return journey, making a comfort stop en route before arriving in Cairnryan to join the early evening ferry crossing to Belfast. On arrival, you return to your original joining point.
