This tour takes us through some of the most stunning and dramatic landscapes of Scotland. Gain an insight into some of Scotland’s most magnificent castles and royal residences. No other country in the world does a castle quite like Scotland. The first 3 nights of the tour is spent staying on the Isle of Bute at the Glenburn hotel before heading east to Stirling where we will spend the remaining 2 nights of the tour at the King Robert Hotel. With entry to four of Scotland’s most opulent castles and palaces this tour is a right royal delight, taking in some of Scotland’s best scenery, fascinating history and unique architecture along the way.

Set in a prime position atop terraced gardens, The Glenburn Hotel commands fabulous views overlooking Rothesay Bay and the Cowal Peninsula. Rothestay town centre is just a 15-minute walk away. The King Robert Hotel is situated on the site of the Battle of Bannockburn on the outskirts of historic Stirling, yet only minutes from the motorway network. It is ideally placed in the heart of Scotland for those wishing to explore all our country has to offer, with the glorious Trossachs, countless golf courses, the Wallace Monument, Stirling Castle, The Falkirk Wheel and of course Stirling, all on our doorstep. The King Robert is a family run hotel where you will always find a friendly welcome and excellent value for money. The hotel has 52 bedrooms all tastefully decorated with private en-suite facilities, LCD television (most are Smart TV’s), tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryers and free Wi-Fi.

Itinerary

DAY 1

Meet your coach at your selected pick-up point and travel to Belfast Port to join the early morning ferry crossing to Cairnryan. On arrival in Cairnryan we travel along the coast towards Wemyss Bay to take the ferry to Isle of Bute. On arrival at the Glenburn Hotel, check-in, relax and freshen up before dinner.

DAY 2

Today after breakfast enjoy the morning free to explore the charming Victorian seaside town of Rothesay at your leisure. This afternoon we will tour the island before spending time at the extravagant Gothic Palace, known as Mount Stuart. A lavish Palace and arguably one of the best in the UK, with sumptuous rich rooms, including a marble staircase and a 300-acre labyrinth of impressive gardens. Afterwards re-join your coach for the return journey back to Rothesay in time for dinner.

DAY 3

After breakfast (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager) join your coach as we head North and take the ferry at Colintraive and along the banks of Loch Fyne to the ancient maritime port of Inverary. Entry is included to the Castle, still home to the Duke of Argyll himself after plating an important role in the shaping of Scotland through the ages. The garden covers sixteen acres and the remainder being park and woodland extending to 180 hectares forming one of the most important designed landscapes in Scotland. Return to along Loch Eck with free time in Dunoon before catching the ferry back to Bute.

DAY 4

This morning after breakfast check-out of the hotel and re-join your coach as we say farewell to the Isle of Bute and take the ferry back to Wemyss Bay. Head along the west coast via Greenock before arriving at another of Scotland’s famous lochs. Enjoy time at Lomond Shores on the ‘Bonny banks’ before travelling to Stirling for entry to the Castle. Likened to ‘a huge brooch clasping Highlands and Lowlands together’ the structure guarded the lowest crossing point of the River Forth for centuries. Afterward arrive at the King Robert Hotel for the next two nights. Check-in, relax and freshen up before dinner.

DAY 5

Today we travel to visit the City of Edinburgh, over one of the famous bridges across the Forth for free time in Scotland’s capital before a visit to Scotland’s most spectacular palace of all; Edinburgh Castle. The focal point of the city it has a rich history as royal residence, military garrison, prison, and fortress, it is alive with many exciting tales. Discover the tales with entry included. The best has been saved until last with a sumptuous afternoon tea being served in the castle tea rooms, a right royal delight.

DAY 6

This morning after a leisurely breakfast and checking out (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager), we make our journey back to Cairnryan with a comfort stop en-route before joining the afternoon crossing to Belfast. On arrival, you return to your original joining point.
