Staying at the idyllic Shap Wells Hotel near Penrith, is the perfect place to enjoy a lovely break in the Lake District. Itinerary

Day 1

Your bags are all packed and ready to go, all you have to do now is meet our luxury coach at your selected pick-up point where you will be welcomed onboard by one of our experienced Tour Managers. Signifying the beginning of your adventure to the Lake District, we travel to Belfast to join the ferry crossing to Cairnryan. Relax and enjoy all the facilities that Stena Line offers before we reach the Scottish shores. On arrival in Scotland, we continue the journey towards Penrith. Including a stop at the ever-popular Gretna Green Outlet Village for some free time, where you can grab yourself some designer bargains.

Day 2

Today after breakfast join your coach for a full day tour of the lakes, admire the stunning scenery as we travel. Firstly, we’ll visit the pretty market town of Keswick with free time to explore. Why not discover the fascinating history of an everyday item at the Derwent Pencil Museum (entry fee applies) or visit the Keswick Museum and Art Gallery (entry fee applies) where local artefacts are displayed. Afterwards we will visit Grasmere, Ambleside and Windermere before returning to our hotel.

Day 3

Start the day exploring Yorkshire Dales, admire the scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park before stopping in market town of Hawes to visit the Wensleydale Cheese Experience. Discover a fascinating insight into the thousand-year history of cheese-making in the Dales with audio clips, stunning infographics and displays in there modern, open plan Demonstration Room. Afterwards re-join your coach and make your way back to your hotel.

Day 4

Sit back, relax and admire the beautiful Lake District as we travel to Haverthwaite to board the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam train as it cuts through the beautiful scenery of the Lake District taking in the sights and sounds of days gone by before enjoying some free time in the historic market town of Kendal. Later re-join your coach and make your way back to your hotel.

Day 5

The end of our tour is looming as we check out of our hotel. But before we leave to journey home, enjoy some free time to explore the border town packed with history and heritage. Must see sights in Carlisle include, Carlisle Castle and Carlisle Cathedral, immerse yourself in the rich history of the city and explore the gems of North West England. We depart for Cairnryan to join the Stena Line ferry crossing to Belfast. Be sure to enjoy the facilities on offer as we cross the Irish Sea. Once in Belfast, the coach will drop you off at your original pick-up point and you bid farewell to our wonderful Tour Manager.
