Make your way to Dublin Airport Terminal 1 to check in for your flights to Bandaranaike.

DAY 2: 17th Sep: AIRPORT/ DAMBULLA
Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Dambulla for check-in.

DAY 3 – 18th Sep: DAMBULLA
After an early breakfast or packed breakfast, proceed to visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress by 06.00am.
Sigiriya Rock Fortress declared a world heritage site by UNESCO, Sigiriya serves as a fine example of ancient urban planning. Sigiriya is a significant site of the Cultural Triangle and perhaps Sri Lanka’s most iconic historical destination.
The site, also known as Lion Rock, is recognized all over the world for the remains of the ancient Sigiriya Rock Fortress and its numerous enchanting and well-preserved attractions. The complex hydraulics system at the fortress enhances the site’s reputation as a beautiful example of classical city planning.
The fortress complex, constructed in the 5th century, includes attractions such as the royal gardens, one of the oldest landscaped gardens in the world, and the Mirror Wall, which is adorned with ancient graffiti. The highlight of the fortress is the colorful frescoes painted on the western face of the rock; it is believed that there were initially 500 such frescoes, but merely around 22 of them remain today. In the afternoon proceed to do a village trek at Hiriwaduna and enjoy a local authentic lunch.
This is a unique jungle and village experience which is popular with most clients. Depart early from the hotel to a point off the main road where you begin a scintillating walk over village paths, a tank (ancient reservoir) bund and forest.
Cross a little jungle rivulet by catamaran to reach a farmers simple “wattle and daub” house. Begin the next phase of your trek, which will lead you through vegetable plots and into a scrub forest, where a waiting bullock cart will transport you through jungle and passed paddy fields. A truly Sri Lankan experience.

DAY 4 – 19th Sep: DAMBULLA/ PINNAWALA / KANDY
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. After visiting the orphanage travel to Kandy. En route stop by Mawanella Spice Garden for a quick visit.
Mawanella spice gardens offer immersive tours through lush landscapes, where visitors can learn about Sri Lanka’s renowned spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, and pepper as well as a variety of medicinal herbs. Guests can observe how these plants are cultivated, enjoy complimentary tastings and massages, and gain insight into traditional Ayurvedic practices. While the tours are typically free and informative, visitors should be aware that many spice gardens are known for assertive sales tactics and often overpriced products. It is best to approach the visit as a cultural and educational experience rather than a shopping opportunity. On completion proceed to Kandy and do a city tour of Kandy.
Lunch in Kandy (Own Arrangements).
Kandy a lovely city, the Hill Capital and last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings retains an aura of grandeur, which time has not affected. Encircled by hills, with a tranquil lake in its centre, it is the site of the renowned “Temple of the Tooth” and the Royal Botanical gardens home to one of the best collections of Orchids. Kandy and its satellite villages are the centre of the islands handicraft industry and its traditional dances are the most spectacular in the country.
Evening witnesses the cultural show.

This ‘Fen” is a very scenic region with an astounding variety of scenery from mountains to grasslands, from marshes to trout streams. Sri Lanka’s best- flavoured high grown teas are grown in the surrounding areas. Spectacular view from ‘Worlds End’ where the plateau plunges a thousand feet in a straight sheer drop. Cool and bracing climate, and very good hiking country. Distinctive flora (many English field flowers grow on the plains) colourful butterflies and many rare highland birds. Thereafter, do a city tour of Nuwara Eliya and visit Hakgala Botanical Gardens.
