Dramatic Backdrops
Lake Garda’s breath-taking scenery is just one reason to visit this Summer. Unwind on a lakefront, take strolls along the riverbank or ferry-hop between vibrant towns. You cannot truly appreciate how spectacular Lake Garda is if you don’t see it from the water. Picturesque and exploding with aroma, our Lake Garda holidays let you see a diverse side of Europe. Delve into lakeshore towns and alpine villages, explore new cultures, embark on the many outdoor recreation activities and see impressive backdrops. Here are five of our favourite things about a Lake Garda.
Like Like a Local
Take your pick from a number of extravagant hotels on the lakes or family-run guesthouses in hillside towns where idiomatic service is precedence. The staff are commonly natives too and are more than happy to recommend tips to help you make the most of your Italian getaway.
Best of Italy
Venice and Verona are just some of the destinations within easy reach of Lake Garda. Diversify your Italian holiday between a lakeside town and a city on a multi-destination holiday. Book a day trip on one of our excursions to see all what Italy has to offer.
Resorts
Torbole
The resort of Torbole is on the northern edge of Lake Garda in Italy, only a few kilometres east of Riva del Garda. Best known as a premier windsurfing spot because of the steady winds, Torbole also makes the northern part of the lake a favorite for sailing.
Lazise
Lazise is a picturesque town that overlooks the south-eastern shore of Lake Garda. It is well known for its charming landscapes and is great for those seeking a moment of relaxation and recreation on Lake Garda. Looking for fun and adventure? the amusement parks Caneva Aquapark and Gardaland are just around the corner.
Bardolino
The town of Bardolino sits along the east shore of Lake Garda. One of many pleasant towns that ring the lake, Bardolino is world renowned for its wine, made locally in the surrounding hillsides. Rich in history and local culture, there is plenty to see and do in beautiful Bardolino.
Desenzano Del Garda
Desenzano is a lively town on the shores of south-west Lake Garda. As with most of the resorts and towns on the lake it is the area around the harbour that is the main attraction and makes for a pleasant promenade. Visitors enjoy the popular nightlife and local cooking classes.
Sirmione
Known as the ‘Pearl of the lake’ Sirmione is situated on the south bank of Lake Garda. It is known for its thermal baths and Rocca Scaligera, a medieval castle overlooking the lake. The city centre is characterised by narrow streets and romantic views of the lake, popular for water sports and other recreational activities.
Malcesine
The Italian town of Malcesine sits on the eastern shore of Lake Garda. It is a picturesque town renowned for its cobbled streets, infamous castle, blue lake waters and features a massive mountain ridge behind, Mount Baldo. The town is great for a peaceful stroll by the lake. Wonder the towns streets, take the cable-car to Mount Baldo, visit Castello Scaligero that looks over the town, eat ice cream, participate in water sports and discover the picturesque medieval lanes winding up from the lake.
Riva Del Garda
Situated right at the northern tip of Lake Garda, the popular resort of Riva del Garda offers beautiful views of the tree covered mountains on either side as you look south across the water. Enjoy a relaxing break at the foot of the mountains visiting the local attractions and taking part in the excursions found nearby.
Garda Town
Garda Town is situated on a magnificent bay surrounded by lush green hills. Thought to have given the lake its name, this is a perfect base to explore Lake Garda and the surrounding area. It’s viewed by many as one of the true gems of Northern Italy.
Peschiera Del Garda
Peschiera del Garda is located on the southern end of Lake Garda, in Italy’s Veneto region. Peschiera is set at the feet of the morainic hills, where the Lake Garda waters flow in the Mincio river. Canals surround the city completely and walls that have changed the natural rivers flood close the old town centre.
