Itinerary

Day 1 Meet your coach at your selected pick-up point and travel to Belfast to join the early morning ferry crossing to Cairnryan. On arrival in Cairnryan, we’ll travel to Glasgow for some free time to explore the city before continuing the journey to our hotel in Newtonmore arriving late afternoon.  Check-in, relax and freshen up before dinner.

Day 2 Today after breakfast (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager) join your coach and travel the short distance to visit the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore, the UK’s inaugural open-air museum housing collections of local, national, and international significance, it provides insights into Scottish life from the 1700s to the mid-1990s.  Afterwards, savor leisure time in Aviemore before embarking on a captivating Strathspey railway journey.  Nestled in the heart of the Highlands, this leading heritage railway invites you to enjoy vintage carriages pulled by a meticulously restored locomotive, all while taking in the rugged scenery.  Afterwards re-join your coach to return to your hotel in Newtonmore.  Relax and freshen up before dinner.

Day 3 This morning after breakfast, join your coach as we travel to board the Scotrail train from Dingwall to Kyle (this is approx. 2hr 30 mins train journey).  It’s all aboard ‘one of the most beautiful rail journeys in Europe’ according to Michael Palin.  On arrival in Kyle re-join your coach and travel to visit Eilean Donan Castle.  Explore a 13th Century Castle in the Highlands of Scotland and you will embark on a journey that takes you through time and history.  Afterwards return to your hotel by coach through the wonderful Highland Grandeur. (Note: The sequence mentioned above may be reversed.)

Day 4 After breakfast (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager) join your coach as we travel to Fort William to board the Scotrail train – described as the greatest railway journey in the world, partly due to the 46 miles of spellbinding scenery and for the major part it took part in the Harry Potter productions.  Glide past beautiful views of lochs, mountains, famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, and the Isles of Eigg, Much and Rum.  In Mallaig enjoy some free time to explore this Highland fishing town.   The road journey back in your coach is very different to the rail journey where we’ll make some stops en-route firstly with a stop at Glenfinnan to see Bonnie Prince Charlie’s monument at the head of Loch Shiel and the massive viaduct.  Finally, Neptune’s Staircases in Banavie – a series of eight lock gates on the Caledonian Canal before arriving back at our hotel in Newtonmore.

Day 5 This morning after breakfast and checking out (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager), we make our way to Stirling, enjoy some free time to explore the city, its dramatic castle (payable locally), and many other attractions.  Mid-afternoon meet your coach and travel to the port of Cairnryan to join the evening ferry crossing to Belfast. On arrival, you will return to your original joining point.
