Day 2 This morning after breakfast (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager) we start the day with a drive south to the city of Lichfield. There is much to see and do — particularly the stunning Lichfield Cathedral (payable locally), set in a remarkable and serene close. Over 800 years old, the building is the third on the site and is well worth a visit. This afternoon we continue to the stunning Shugborough Estate, former home of the late Lord Patrick Lichfield. Set on the banks of the river sow, the magnificent 1 7th century mansion house provides beautiful historic interiors where you can view unusual treasures or experience life ‘below stairs’ in the servants’ quarters. You’ll also discover stunning formal gardens, peaceful woodland and parkland peppered with monuments and follies. Afterward re-join your coach as we journey back to the hotel for dinner.

Day 3 After breakfast (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager) join your coach as we head north to Duffield where we join the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway for a 30-minute ride through the Derbyshire countryside to Wirksworth. Rejoining the coach, we head for Matlock where we take a break for lunch and have a chance to look around. This afternoon we visit the superb Crich Tramway Village. The authentic period village scene transports you back in time with cobbled streets and the gentle rumble of passing trams. You’ll also find indoor exhibitions, sops, an ice cream parlour, tea rooms and a woodland walk and sculpture trail. Afterward re-join your coach as we journey back to the hotel for dinner.

Day 4 Depart after breakfast (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager), today we travel to visit the National Trust owned Biddulph Grange Garden. This I sone of Britain’s most unusual gardens with upside-down trees, a formal Italian Garden, Egyptian Court, and a tranquil Chinese garden. A delightful experience! Afterwards we travel to the spa town of Buxton with time to explore its pedestrianised main street, delightful gardens, and magnificent historic buidlings before returning to your hotel to relax and freshen up before dinner.
