The Loch Awe Hotel is a striking historic landmark, originally built to celebrate the arrival of the Highland railway to Scotland’s west coast. Perched above the shimmering waters of Loch Awe, the hotel sits in an area renowned for its outstanding natural beauty. Nestled beneath the towering peak of Ben Cruachan and just along the shoreline from the romantic ruins of Kilchurn Castle, the hotel offers a truly atmospheric base steeped in Scottish history. With sweeping views and grand Victorian architecture, it provides an unforgettable window into the drama and charm of the Highlands. Ideally located, Loch Awe Hotel is perfect for touring Scotland’s rugged west coast and exploring the nearby islands, making it a favourite for travellers seeking both adventure and serenity. Itinerary
Day 1 – Travel and Glasgow Meet your coach at your selected joining point and travel to Belfast for the early morning ferry crossing to Cairnryan. Upon arrival, we’ll head to Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, where you’ll have some free time to explore. With its captivating mix of top attractions, impressive architecture, and rich industrial heritage, Glasgow has something for everyone. Later in the afternoon, rejoin your coach (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager) as we continue north, soaking in the changing landscapes as we travel to the Loch Awe Hotel, Dalmally. After checking in, take some time to relax, admire the stunning loch views, and freshen up before dinner.
Day 2: Oban and Inveraray Castle and Gardens After breakfast, we head west to Oban, a picturesque seaside town known as the “Gateway to the Isles.” Enjoy free time to explore Oban’s harbour, shops, and famous Oban Distillery (payable locally). In the afternoon, rejoin your coach as we travel to visit Inveraray, a town in Argyll located on the western shore of Loch Fyne and the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll. Enjoy a visit to the majestic Inveraray Castle and Gardens before rejoining your coach to travel back to Dalmally to enjoy dinner at your hotel.
Day 3 – Scenic Loch Lomond , The Trossachs National Park and Loch Lomond Shores Today after breakfast (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager), join your coach as we head to explore the breathtaking beauty of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Firstly, stopping at Luss, a charming lochside village for photos and an opportunity to grab some refreshments before heading to visit Callander, ‘Gateway to the Highlands’, a small town in the council area of Stirling, situated on the River Teith. The town is located in the historic county of Perthshire and is a popular tourist stop to and from the Highlands. Then we will continue our journey through the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park as we visit Loch Lomond Shores and Balloch, the enchanting village on the foot of the Loch Lomond, before returning to our hotel in Dallmally. Enjoy some time to relax and freshen up before dinner.
Day 4: Fortwilliam, Glencoe Valley, and Glencoe Visitors Centre After breakfast (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager) enjoy some free time in Fort William, nestled at the foot of Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain. Afterwards to travel through the dramatic landscapes of Glencoe Valley, steeped in history and natural beauty, as well as visiting the Glencoe Visitors Centre before returning to our hotel in Dalmally via a scenic Highland route to enjoy a relaxing evening and dinner.
Day 5: Isle of Mull Adventure – A day of castles, coastline, and colourful harbour towns Enjoy a scenic Highland escape as we set off early for a day trip to the enchanting Isle of Mull. After breakfast, we travel by coach to the bustling port town of Oban, where we’ll board the ferry for a short and picturesque crossing to Mull. Our first stop is the iconic Duart Castle, a striking clifftop fortress and ancestral home of Clan Maclean. Explore its historic halls and take in breathtaking views across the Sound of Mull. We then continue our island journey, winding through Mull’s rugged landscapes before arriving in Tobermory, the island’s postcard-perfect capital. With its brightly painted waterfront buildings and charming shops, it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy a leisurely lunch. Later in the afternoon, we return by ferry to Oban and travel back to the hotel, with unforgettable memories of Scotland’s west coast.
Day 6: Return Journey After breakfast and check-out (your Tour Manager will advise departure time), join your coach as we begin our journey home, making a comfort stop en route before boarding the afternoon ferry to Belfast. Upon arrival, you’ll return to your original joining point, marking the end of a memorable Highland escape.
