Itinerary
Day 1: Journey to Westport & Hotel Check-In Your adventure begins as you meet your coach at your selected pick-up point. Relax and enjoy the scenic drive westward, with a scheduled stop in Enniskillen, where you can stretch your legs and grab a bite to eat or a coffee.
In the late afternoon, we arrive in the beautiful town of Westport, nestled near Clew Bay. Check in to the Westport Woods Hotel & Spa, with time to settle in and freshen up before enjoying your welcome dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Free Time in Westport Town and Westport Cruise After breakfast, join your coach as we depart to spend the morning at leisure in Westport, a designated heritage town known for its Georgian architecture and charming atmosphere. Stroll along The Mall, tree-lined riverbanks that wind through the town, or browse the boutiques and cafés of Bridge Street, the bustling main shopping area. After lunch, join your coach as we travel the short distance to join a Westport cruise – take a seat for a 90-minute cruise – this Clew Bay Cruise explores the seal colony at John Lennon’s Island, the 365 island, and much more. Experience the beauty, history, and wildlife that the waters surrounding Clewbay have to offer. Afterwards, return to your hotel to relax and freshen up before dinner.
Day 3: Cong Village, The Quiet Man Tour & Knock Shrine Following breakfast, we journey to the picturesque village of Cong, nestled between Lough Corrib and Lough Mask. Renowned as the filming location of The Quiet Man, Cong exudes old-world charm and cinematic history. Visit the Quiet Man Museum, then join a guided walking tour of the film’s original locations, including Pat Cohan’s Bar, the Reverend Playfair’s House, and the Quiet Man commemorative statue. The gentle one-hour stroll brings the movie’s magic to life. Afterward, we continue to Knock, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Ireland, where the Marian apparition reportedly occurred in 1879. Take time to explore the Basilica, the Apparition Chapel, and visitor facilities. Return to Westport in the late afternoon.
Day 4: Connemara Heritage Centre & the Town of Clifden After breakfast, board your coach for a scenic journey through Connemara, one of Ireland’s wildest and beautiful regions. Our first stop is the Connemara Heritage and History Centre, located on a traditional working farm. Highlights include: The Dan O’Hara Homestead, a replica 19th-century cottage, interactive exhibits on the Irish Famine, the Land War, and the Gaelic Revival, and Hands-on experiences with traditional farming methods and animals. Following this immersive cultural visit, we head to Clifden, the “Capital of Connemara.” Enjoy free time in this lively town known for its art galleries, pubs, and dramatic coastal views, set between the Twelve Bens mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. Return to the hotel for your final evening in Westport.
Day 5: Return Journey Home: After a leisurely breakfast and hotel check-out (departure time to be confirmed by your tour manager), board your coach for the journey home. En route, enjoy comfort stops in Castlebar, the county town of Mayo, and the vibrant coastal town of Sligo—perfect for a coffee, lunch, or some final sightseeing. We then continue the journey, returning you safely to your original joining point with wonderful memories of your time in the west of Ireland.
