Itinerary

DAY 1

Meet your coach at your selected pick-up point. Sit back and relax as we travel towards the county of Westmeath with a comfort stop en-route. On arrival at the Bloomfield House Hotel, check-in and enjoy the rest of the afternoon to explore the grounds and facilities before dinner.

DAY 2

This morning after breakfast, join your coach as we travel to visit Strokestown Park House and The National Famine Museum. Discover the intimate and intriguing links between dramatically different Irish lives. Enjoy a guided one- hour tour of Strokestown Park House, learn about the house, its characters, and its dramatic tales as well as a host of untouched original features, furniture, and many treasured objects! Enjoy a self-guided tour of the National Famine Museum, explore the parallel lives of Strokestown park’s aristocratic landlords and their tenants during the Great Irish Famine. Afterwards re-join your coach as we stop in Longford before returning to the hotel.

DAY 3

After Breakfast we depart the hotel and (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager) travel to spend the day visiting the nearby charming town of Athlone. Athlone is rich in history and culture and has something for everyone. Why not take a walk along the River Shannon, explore the castle (payable Locally), enjoy the fine dining, or visit the many shops. Mid-afternoon, re-join your coach and make your way back to your hotel to relax before dinner.

DAY 4

After Breakfast join your coach and travel to visit Birr Castle and Gardens. The castle, which dates back to medieval times, is well known today because of its royal connection – the present Earl’s brother, Lord Snowdon, was married to Princess Margaret. Yet the property retains an air of secrecy, and few people are able to glimpse its fine interiors, virtually untouched, including the Gothic Saloon with its vaulted ceiling and Chippendale furniture. Afterwards re-join your coach and travel to Tullamore, the county town of County Offaly. Located on the Grand Canal, in the middle of the county and is the 4th most popular town in the midland’s region. Enjoy some free time to explore the town and all it has to offer. Later you will meet your coach and make your way to your hotel.

DAY 5

This morning after a leisurely breakfast and checking out , join your coach and travel to visit Belvedere House and Gardens located outside Mullingar town. This 18^th century estate with fully restored Georgian House, Victorian Walled Gardens and 160-acre lakeside estate. Famous for the numerous romantic follies in the grounds including the jealous wall. Afterwards enjoy some free time in Mullingar before re-joining your coach to make the return journey returning you to your original joining point.
