Itinerary

DAY 1

Meet your coach at your selected joining point and travel to Belfast for the early morning ferry crossing to Cairnryan. On arrival in Cairnryan, we continue our journey to our hotel in Ilkley with a stop at the Gretna Gateway Outlet Village en-route before arriving at your hotel late afternoon. Check-in, relax and freshen up before dinner.

DAY 2

This morning after breakfast, today will be the highlight of the tour. Join your coach and meet you local Yorkshire tour guide as we head North for our tour of the Yorkshire Dales, taking a scenic route towards Thirsk. Firstly, visit the World of James Herriot Museum – The award-winning museum sets the scene for the day – giving background to the television series of All Creatures Great and Small. Re-join your coach as we take a scenic route from Thirsk through Nidderdale and into Wharfedale before we visit the picturesque market town of Grassington and the main filming location for the current series of All Creatures Great and Small. In Grassington enjoy some free time for Lunch and the chance to visit some of the nice independent shops. Afterwards continue along the scenic route towards Bolton Abbey, enjoy a visit of the Abbey before continuing the journey back to your hotel in IIkley.

DAY 3

After breakfast join your coach as we head southeast for the City of Leeds. We make our first stop at the Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills. This Mill was once the largest woollen mill in the world. You will learn how this factory operated, the dangerous working practise its workers faced and how the industrial revolutions impacted the area. This afternoon we head into the city centre where you will enjoy free time to explore the city at leisure, perhaps visit the Royal Armouries (free entry) that showcases how military equipment has advanced through the ages or enjoy looking around the shops in Trinity shopping centre.

DAY 4

Today after breakfast, join your coach as we travel to visit the magnificent Harewood House ‘The Jewel in Yorkshire’s Crown’, with entrance to both the house, majestic staterooms and the 100 acres of glorious gardens. The house holds a remarkable art collection including renaissance masterpieces exquisite Thomas Chippendale Furniture. Afterwards travel to visit the delightful spa town of Harrogate with its glorious Edwardian architecture, Turkish Baths with plunge pools and steam rooms, fine shopping mall, walk through Valley Gardens – and don’t forget to stop for refreshments at Betty’s famous tea rooms! Re-join your coach and return to your hotel to relax before dinner.

DAY 5

This morning after breakfast and checking out, say farewell to the Yorkshire dales as you join your coach for the return journey to Cairnryan Port making comfort stops enroute before joining the early evening ferry crossing to Belfast. On arrival, you return to your original joining point.
