The sights and sounds of the steam engines will transport you back in time. In addition to the Ironbridge Gorge, we will also spend time exploring the medieval market town of Ludlow. Our base for this tour is the Mercure hotel Telford Centre. Located in the heart of Shropshire, at the foot of the Wrekin and leading into the Shropshire Hills, it provides the perfect base from which to explore the stunning surrounding countryside. Itinerary

DAY 1

Meet your coach at your selected pick-up point and travel to Dublin Port to join the early morning ferry crossing to Holyhead. On arrival in Holyhead, travel to your hotel in Telford stopping en-route in the walled cathedral city of Chester for some free time to grab some lunch before continuing the journey to your hotel arriving late afternoon to check-in and relax before dinner.

DAY 2

This morning after breakfast travel to Ironbridge one of the wonders of the world. Our journey begins at the Museum of the Gorge, where a colossal 12-meter model and an informative film illustrate how the area evolved into the most industrious hub globally. Explore the nearby Iron Bridge, a marvel completed in 1779, and perhaps take a leisurely stroll across it. Delve into the charming craft boutiques, eateries, and food stores lining the River Severn. Our next destination transports us back in time to the Blists Hill Victorian Town. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and aromas of this meticulously reconstructed working-class town, featuring an array of shops, factories, and buildings inhabited by costumed characters. Afterwards re-join your coach and return to your hotel in Telford.

DAY 3

Today after breakfast join your coach as we travel to the renowned Severn Valley Railway. We join the train at Bridgnorth for the scenic 16-mile rail journey to Kidderminster, tracing the picturesque course of the River Severn through unspoiled countryside. In the afternoon we visit the thriving medieval market town of Ludlow, described by poet John Betjeman as ‘probably the loveliest town in England with its hill of Georgian houses ascending from the River Teme to the great tower of the cross-shaped church, rising behind a classic market building’. Afterwards re-join your coach and return to your hotel in Telford.

DAY 4

This morning after breakfast and checking out, bid farewell to Telford as you join your coach to make the return journey back to Holyhead Port with a comfort stop en-route before joining the afternoon sailing to Dublin. On arrival, you return to your original joining point.
