Itinerary

Day 1: Travel & Arrival in Fort William Join your coach at your selected pick-up point and travel to Belfast, where you’ll board the early morning ferry crossing to Cairnryan. After arriving in Scotland, we continue to Glasgow for a comfort break and some free time to explore the city. Take a stroll along Buchanan Street, browse the shops, or visit one of Glasgow’s excellent museums or galleries.

In the afternoon, we travel north through the breathtaking Highland landscapes, arriving in Fort William by late afternoon. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel, take some time to relax and freshen up, and then enjoy dinner with the group.

Day 2: Fort William and Mallaig After breakfast (departure time will be confirmed by your tour manager) enjoy some free time in Fort William before boarding the Scotrail train – described as the greatest railway journey in the world, partly due to the 46 miles of spellbinding scenery, and for the major part it took part in the Harry Potter productions.  Glide past beautiful views of lochs, mountains, the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, and the Isles of Eigg, Much, and Rum.  In Mallaig, enjoy some free time to explore this Highland fishing town.   The road journey back in your coach is very different to the rail journey, where we’ll make some stops en route, firstly with a stop at Glenfinnan to see Bonnie Prince Charlie’s monument at the head of Loch Shiel and the massive viaduct.  Finally, Neptune’s Staircases in Banavie – a series of eight lock gates on the Caledonian Canal before arriving back at our hotel in Fort William.

Day 3: Aviemore and Strathspey Railway Join your coach this morning for a scenic journey through the Cairngorms National Park en route to Aviemore, a charming town nestled in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Here, you’ll step back in time aboard the renowned Strathspey Railway, a celebrated heritage line featuring beautifully restored locomotives and vintage carriages.

Travel in style from Broomhill to Aviemore, soaking in the rugged, breathtaking landscapes that unfold along the way—think pine forests, open moorlands, and distant peaks. After your rail experience, enjoy some leisure time in Aviemore to explore its inviting shops, cafes, or simply admire the views.

Later in the day, rejoin your coach for a relaxing drive back to your hotel in Fort William. Take a stroll around Fort William before taking time to freshen up and unwind before gathering for a well-deserved dinner.

Day 4: Loch Ness and Inverness After breakfast (departure time to be confirmed by your Tour Manager), we begin the day with a scenic 50-minute cruise on Loch Ness. Sit back, relax, and soak in the beauty and mystery of this iconic loch. The cruise offers a perfect opportunity to enjoy stunning views, spot local wildlife, and learn about the fascinating legends and history of Loch Ness. Next, we travel to Inverness, the vibrant and modern ‘Capital of the Highlands’, located at the top of the Great Glen. Take in the charm of this historic city, known for its picturesque riverside setting, bustling streets, and cultural landmarks.

In the afternoon, we visit the Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre, where you’ll delve into the gripping story of the 1745 Jacobite Rising. Experience the powerful 360-degree battle immersion theatre, placing you right in the heart of the historic conflict. Explore the museum’s collection of authentic weapons and artifacts, and gain insight into both the Jacobite and Government perspectives of the battle. Enjoy some free time to browse the visitor centre, café, and shop before boarding the coach for the return journey to your hotel in Fort William.

Day 5: Return Journey via Glencoe Valley and Stirling After breakfast and check-out (your Tour Manager will advise departure time), we begin our journey home starting with a visit to the dramatic Glencoe Valley, steeped in both natural beauty and history, then a stop at the Glencoe Visitor Centre to learn about the 1692 massacre and Highland life before travelling on to stop at the historic city of Stirling. Enjoy some free time to explore at your leisure—perhaps visit the impressive Stirling Castle (entry payable locally), stroll through the charming Old Town, or discover local attractions such as the Church of the Holy Rude or the National Wallace Monument. In the mid-afternoon, rejoin your coach and travel to the port of Cairnryan, where you’ll board the evening ferry to Belfast. Upon arrival, you’ll return to your original joining point, bringing your tour to a close.
